Happy New Year! This is the time of year that many of us resolve to make a positive change in our lives. Research shows that the best way for a child to become a better reader is simply to read. Beginning this week, when students visit the library with their class, they will not only experience literature through an engaging read aloud, but will have time, simply to read. After choosing a new library book, students will have time to enjoy their book, talk about books and reading with their teacher, their peers, and the librarian. How can you be involved? Talk to your child about the book they are reading, whether it is independent reading, guided reading in the classroom, or even the book that you read together at home. Together, we can create a community of lifelong readers.
